I started Shalhoob Deli & Catering in 1987, serving deli style lunches and soon developed an off-site catering company specializing in grilled meats. With fifteen years of deli and catering experience, I was prepared to expand the business into a full-service restaurant. In addition to the same great old-school lunch menu, the new venue also boasted a full bar and dinner menu, which was a great success thanks to word-of-mouth and our on-going dedication to consistency, quality, and fun.
The Shalhoobs have been in Santa Barbara since the early 1900’s. I’m a fourth generation Santa Barbaran and daughter of Jerry Shalhoob. My father started Shalhoob Meat Company in the same building where Jill’s Place is located now. This butcher’s daughter is proud to continue our family business at this location. My father’s original small retail shop expanded to a wholesale meat company and relocated to a larger space at 220 Grey Avenue, where Shalhoob Meat Company still operates today under the ownership of John Shalhoob, Jr., and his daughter and son, Leeandra and Lil John (LJ).
